2012!

I will get back in the hang of this...I think....
The holidays definitely took a bit of a toll on me and I strived (a little too much) to make it a perfect "first Christmas" and it kinda was overwhelming....Thank goodness I have a hubby who loves me and take all of my craziness!

"O Christmas tree"

Well, we got our FIRST Christmas tree and it was a fun experience! I must admit, I bugged mk quite a bit about when we were gonna go on this adventure BUT we made it and that's all that matters! Because it's our first Christmas, we don't really have much to go on the tree or anything you "need" so, I made our tree skirt (I was inspired by this post  ) and threw in a bit of my own taste. Our tree is decorated with the hearts I made as our wedding favors! Merry Christmas :)

And the finished look!
Oh and I made this too!

Gifts are sweet!

I had the "lovely" privilege of being a part of the "lovely package exchange" that oh, hello friend put on and it was such fun putting a gift together for my new friend Lindsey! This how my package looked. Hopefully she'll be getting it soon :) Merry Christmas everyone!

update!

OK, so in this post The list
I joined the challenge of accomplishing 12 new things before the year is through...here's how I've done so far.

1. Read my bible at least once a week! I'm not the best at this so this makes it more of an attainable goal! (I think Ive done pretty good with this)
2. Make at least part of all the Christmas gifts I give this year (Well, still working on this of course :) )
3.Learn to drive manual...my hubby has tried a few times to teach me but we need the lessons to return... (definitely have not even tried this...)
4.Sell something on my etsy shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/RosieasaButton (um not yet...any taker's?!)
5.Get a sewing machine (lots more to add to Etsy this way!) Hooray for black Friday!
6.Go see "white Christmas" (my fav movie is now a musical!) (trying to figure out a day to go!)
7.Finally set up my craft corner. Having my first home, makes this a reality! (half way there!)
8. Start putting together my wedding album. Any one know a good company to use? (totally behind...)
9. Go away for a weekend with my hubby! We went to San Diego for mk's bday and our 2 years together!
10. Exercise 3 times a week...I don't want that "happy 10lbs"...although I'm afraid I'm not far from it... (have done OK with this!)
11. Get a bike. Mk and I have been talking about this since before we were married....(we're going garage sale hunting this weekend in the hopes to find some!)
12. Write a letter to someone once a week! (pretty good with this one!)

I love making list and seeing things accomplished! I'm not even worried that I might not finish all this before the end of the year! It's about giving yourself challenges to see through!

A little late but better than never!

Thanksgiving...totally different experience for me this year! I'm still learning the true meaning of the fact that I have TWO families now...see, i didn't get to see any one from "my" family so traditions were different and food was different and my heart ached a little....BUT I'm so thankful for these things! It continues to open my eyes, to see things differently, to experience new traditions, and new food, etc. I'm SO thankful for the constant in having my husband, if it weren't for him these last few months, I don't know what I'd do...plus, he always pushes to remind me that God is faithful and ALWAYS with me as well! Mk I'm pretty sure is the thing I'm most thankful for this year but, here's a few more....

1. That I love my family so much, it actually hurts that they're so far away....
2. That I have a new family to learn to love
3. For food, clothes, shelter...things i take for granted way to much.
4. My eyes...I've "seen" a lot these last few years.
5. That my God is faithful

Here's to the beauty that's around us....

Thankful

I'm thankful we have awesome friends who love the Lord and keep pushing us :) We enjoyed a really good time of communing last night and had the pleasure of meeting new friends too! I'm thankful that God has placed so many good people in our lives right now! Especially with my family moving....I'm so close to them that it's been a real void not having them around....

I also started back at my old job yesterday and it was an easy transition. I'm one of those odd people that don't mind retail during the holidays (I don't like the crazy people but the feel is fun!) I'm thankful that God has provided in this way and that I get to see my friends again :) ( I like that I like the people I work with!)
I am looking forward to some time off next week and getting to spend 4 days with my hubby :)

Favorite kind of days

I get all giddy now when I have a day in my little home, where I can do whatever I want (including being creative!) I will never ever take for granted the glories 4 months I got ,after we were married, to set up our home, relish in the fact that I was now a wife, and schedule my day as I pleased. I think it should be a law or something that every new bride gets to stay home for a couple of months...or at least a couple weeks! And here's the recipes I've been excited about AND the BEAUTIFUL flowers my hubby gave me :)

Turkey burger with zucchini and carrot:
3/4 pound ground turkey
1 med. zucchini, grated
1 med. carrot, grated
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
kosher salt and pepper
3 tbls olive oil
4 slices crusty bread, toasted
4 tbls mayo
2 tps fresh lemon juice
4 small leaves boston  lettuce

heat broiler. in a large bowl, combine the turkey, zucchini, carrot, garlic, egg, thyme, 3/4 tps salt, and 1/4 tps pepper. form the mixture into four 1/2 inch patties. heat 1 tbs of the oil in large skillet over med. heat. cook the patties until no trace of pink remains, 4 to 5 mins. per side. Place bread in broiler (brush with the remaining 2 tbs oil) broil until golden and crispy. In a small bowl, combine mayo and lemon juice. Serve burgers on the toasted bread with lettuce and lemon mayo.

I've now used the lemon mayo for a few things (even though I don't really like mayo!) and it made me even more confident to try new things! Hubby loved it too :)

And now, my flowers :) Started with this...

and the finished product!
